My gift is my ability to provide a safe environment for profound healing. I work intuitively and can deeply connect with each individual to customize an experience that builds trust, through listening and feeling the body's response to healing touch, movement and release.
I work with a wide range of individual clients, male and female, ages and health conditions. My work can benefit anyone in one session, and with regular frequency, progress can grow with residual benefits. My most regular clients are either still actively working in their 30-50's or retired in their 60-80's. They make massage a priority because it gives them more mobility, freedom from pain and supports their independent lifestyle.
I've experienced injury, stress and pain, and have found that our body responds to therapeutic healing touch. Pain is energy, transmitting a somatic message to tell us that we are "out of balance." By receiving therapeutic massage we can relieve pain, eliminate toxins and gain more range of motion. Pain gives us an opportunity to look at our patterns that have created imbalance, so we can make new choices for movement and posture.
Personally, I found massage to be the most beneficial therapy to receive for injury and stress. I worked 18 years with the USPS, and over time delivering mail, I developed osteoarthritis, a degenerative joint disease, from the repetitive grasping and squeezing between my thumb and index on both hands. I refused surgery, and asked for physical therapy. I was given massage, 3 times a week, for several months. In the meantime I was working without my hands, educating the public on forms and services for mailing.
Eventually I left, the USPS took out an early retirement, worked odd jobs and went back to school for career development & training. I had to commute many miles for work, and suffered a black ice accident in 2002. Again massage therapy, 3 times a week, and slowly tapering to once a month over a year, made me a true believer in therapeutic massage. After years of managing a resort & outdoor educational site on the American River, I decided to create my own meaningful work as a massage therapist and pursue my desire to help others recover from injury and pain to restore mobility, flexibility and quality of life.
I received my initial training at Fair Oaks Massage Institute in 2006. After having completed the Massage Therapy Program, Advanced Hot Stones and Acu-Anatomy, I began my full-time practice. In 2009 I added Ashiatsu SoleDeep massage therapy technique, with the intention to provide the deepest therapeutic massage for the balance of my productive years, without further damage to the joints of my hands. I take my health and my role as a holistic practitioner seriously, as I share my knowledge by educating each client on how to create positive change for functional movement.
I am also a student of Shiatsu, a form a Japanese bodywork based on concepts in traditional Chinese medicine, to reduce blockage and tension, restore the body's flow of life force energy, referred to as "chi" "ki" or "qi."
I have also completed First & Second Degree Reiki, Advanced & Reiki Master in the Usui/Tibetan system of healing. Reiki, founded by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century, and is based on "Rei" plus "ki" or "spiritually guided universal life energy" to heal the body, mind and spirit. Usui Shiki Ryoho, the Usui method of natural healing combines physical and spiritual elements in its approach to healing, and is grounded in the belief that the body can heal itself when given the proper support and energy.
As an intuitive massage therapist, I focus on assisting your body's innate ability to heal, by unblocking the pathways to release old patterns that cause stress and pain, allowing energy to flood your body, restoring balance and freedom of movement without pain. I work with all ranges of age, injury and experience. My practice has developed over 18 years, it's become so fluid and deep, it's SoleDeep!
